Busbar Heat Shrink Sleeve Suppliers: Ten Names to Compare

Sourcing & Suppliers · 2026-09-16 · 5 min read

Busbar Heat Shrink Sleeve Suppliers

Busbar sleeve supply splits along an unusual line. On one side are the large cable and electrical groups, whose busbar products sit inside a broader switchgear or cable-accessory catalogue. On the other are tube and shrink-material manufacturers in Asia, who sell by the metre and by the roll and will cut and pre-slit to a drawing. There is very little in between. Which side you want depends on whether your problem is a qualification file or a dimension.

This list is compiled for procurement research. It is not a ranking, not a recommendation and not an endorsement. Capability, plant location and product range change over time, so verify each company directly before qualifying it. WELLELE is our own business and appears first for that reason.

Two further categories are worth knowing when you shortlist. Panel and switchgear builders such as ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens integrate busbar insulation into their own assemblies, which makes them useful reference designs rather than component suppliers. And several busbar-component specialists in Zhejiang and Guangdong cut and pre-slit sleeve for low-voltage panel work at volumes and prices the large groups do not chase.

Five questions that decide whether the sleeve holds

  1. What is the tracking performance, and is it stated for the compound you are buying? At 800V DC in a humid compartment, tracking rather than dielectric strength is what fails first. A supplier who can only quote dielectric strength has not addressed the actual risk.
  2. What is the recovered wall, and how is it held through the recovery? The wall on the datasheet is the supplied wall unless it is stated as recovered, and a wall that varies along a recovered run leaves thin sections in the assembly.
  3. Do you cut to length and pre-slit? Cutting a sleeve to length in-house is easy to get wrong, and a pre-slit sleeve that drops over the bar saves an assembly step and removes a handling risk on the bar edge.
  4. What does the certificate cover, and on which lot? Batch traceability to the tubing lot matters where the sleeve is part of a product approval file.
  5. Will you quote against a drawing with the bar section on it? A supplier who needs the busbar dimensions to recommend a ratio and a recovered wall is doing the engineering. One who quotes a catalogue size is not.

The 800V question

Most of the busbar sleeve demand growth is in EV and energy storage platforms moving to 800V, and that has changed what buyers ask for. The dielectric strength needed at 800V is achievable with a moderate wall. The hard requirement is resistance to surface tracking in a compartment that breathes, condenses and collects contamination over the life of the vehicle or the rack. Tracking performance and the stability of the recovered wall matter more than a headline withstand figure.

PlatformWhat the sleeve has to deliverWhat to put in the enquiry
400V class EVInsulation and mechanical protection over the bar, with phase identificationBar section, assembly OD, colour scheme, the environment
800V class EVInsulation plus tracking resistance under humidity and contaminationPlatform voltage, the pollution environment, the tracking requirement, the bar section
Battery energy storage racksInsulation in a dense pack with limited clearance, cut to length and often pre-slitRack layout, cut lengths, whether pre-slit is needed, the flame class
MV switchgear busbarsAnti-tracking performance, creepage and partial discharge suppressionVoltage class, pollution level, the clearance the sleeve is helping to restore

How to run the comparison

  1. Write the busbar specification: bar sections, the finished assembly outside diameter, the runs and the joint locations, the platform voltage, the environment and the flame and tracking requirements.
  2. Send the same specification to one large group and two custom manufacturers, and ask each for a supplied ID, a ratio and a recovered wall.
  3. Ask for samples that are already recovered on a section of your bar, not loose sleeve. Recovery is where the wall and the profile are decided.
  4. Measure the recovered wall at the flats and at a corner, and check the corner against the voltage requirement.
  5. Confirm the cut length tolerance and the pre-slit option, because those decide your assembly time and your scrap rate.
  6. Keep a second source for the sizes you use most, since busbar sleeve is a long-lead item once a platform is in production.

Seen in context: the busbar insulation route brings together every part that goes into this job.

Common questions

Who makes busbar heat shrink sleeve?

The supply base runs from large electrical groups such as TE Connectivity, 3M, Sumitomo Electric and HellermannTyton, through high-volume heat shrink manufacturers such as Shenzhen Woer and Changyuan Group, to drawing-based manufacturers such as WELLELE that cut and pre-slit to a bar section. Large groups suit programmes that need a qualification file; custom manufacturers suit dimensional work and mixed batches.

What is the difference between busbar sleeve and ordinary heat shrink tubing?

Wall and rating. Busbar sleeve is specified by the recovered wall against a busbar voltage, with flame behaviour and tracking performance stated, and it is supplied in ratios and lengths suited to bar runs. General-purpose tubing is specified by diameter and wall for wire, without a busbar voltage rating.

Why does tracking matter more than dielectric strength at 800V?

Because the dielectric requirement is met by a moderate wall, while the failure that actually happens in service is a conductive track growing across a contaminated surface. In a compartment that breathes and condenses, tracking is the limiting property, so ask for it specifically.

Should I buy pre-slit sleeve?

Where the bar is already installed, yes. Pre-slit sleeve drops over the bar instead of being slid on from the end, which saves a step and avoids dragging the sleeve across an edge. Where the bar is sleeved before assembly, plain tube is simpler and cheaper.

How do I check a recovered wall claim?

Ask for samples recovered on a section of your own bar and measure the wall at the flats and at a corner. A supplied wall figure and a recovered wall figure are different numbers, and the recovered one is what your voltage margin depends on.

Do I need a busbar box as well as the sleeve?

Where the run has a bolted joint or a tap, yes. A joint has to be bare at the contact faces, so it cannot be sleeved. A laminate connection box encloses the joint and removes the exposed conductor from the assembly.

What is a realistic lead time and batch size?

Custom manufacturers run mixed and moderate batches with a short cut and pack cycle. Large groups quote from a catalogue with longer lead times on non-stock ratios. Tell the supplier your ratio and your annual volume at the enquiry stage, so the answer is realistic.

What does WELLELE supply in this category?

Busbar heat shrink sleeve in 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 with UL 94 V-0 flame behaviour and stable recovered dimensions, rated to the busbar voltage, in cut lengths or pre-slit and with an 800V platform variant. We also make laminate busbar conjunction boxes with covers and fixings to your busbar layout. Send the bar section, the platform voltage and the environment.
