18/20kV cold shrink accessories are the workhorse for mining, mineral-processing and heavy industrial distribution where a cable fault stops a line and the cost of downtime is measured in production, not just repair hours. The same pre-expanded, core-pull build is used, but the emphasis shifts to sealing against dust and moisture and to surviving mechanical handling during installation and operation.
Mining EPC contractors and industrial substation operators tend to lose joints to three things: moisture tracking in, mechanical damage at the termination, and installer error under site pressure. A cold-shrink body with a factory stress cone and a moulded seal addresses the first two directly, and removes the heat step that multiplies the third.

Mine sites are dusty, wet and short on skilled jointing time. A cold-shrink termination seats without a torch, so the seal is not compromised by a rushed heat job in a damp pit. The moulded stress cone removes the field taping step that drives most partial-discharge failures, and the constant radial pressure resists the mechanical knock and vibration that industrial feeders see.
Most 20kV class joint failures trace back to moisture ingress or a poorly finished screen cutoff. We support a short installation QA checklist -- screen length, semi-con finish, core-pull direction and seal seating -- and can supply failure-mode notes for your site standard. Bodies are selected by cable OD across the conductor range you run.
