Why phenolic cotton canvas for this application

Phenolic cotton canvas (canvas epoxy) laminate is machined into rigid, non-arc-facing fuse barrels where dimensional stability and low cost matter more than full arc resistance. Cotton-canvas grade absorbs less shock than paper when struck, giving a sturdier feel in draw-out fuse carriers.

Not for the internal arc-facing wall of a high-breaking-capacity link; pair canvas with an outer arc-quenching bore. Soak/swell risk in humid service unless varnished.

Standards: IEC 60269 (fuse dimensions), UL 248 (fuse body), RoHS / REACH compliant.
