Applications by industry

Why mylar (PET) film for this application

Clear PET film gives see-through insulation and wrap for components that must stay inspectable, holding dielectric at low-to-moderate temperature without the cost of heat-shrink on glass systems.

Softens above ~105–150 °C continuous — not for heater or arc zones. Confirm adhesive vs heat-sealed seam for hermetic claims.

Standards: IEC 60250 (dielectric), UL 94 V-0/VTM (grade dependent), RoHS.

Not suitable for [application mismatch — state your duty: voltage class, arc exposure, continuous temperature and chemical environment]. We flag the correct grade during engineering review.

Feature and remaining-wall review

Precision ID/OD grinding; CNC cutting for slots, holes and end finishes. Critical tolerances on conditioned material. Review feature depth, edge distance and remaining wall against critical geometries. Capability is confirmed on your drawing, not from a blanket tolerance.

Material conditioning may be required for dimensional stability — specify humidity and temperature exposure.

Inspection and traceability

We state the control plan with you. Batch traceability links raw material lot to finished part.

Common questions

Is polyimide suitable for precision sensor applications?

Yes. Its dimensional stability and dielectric properties make it ideal for capillary tubes in RTD and thermocouple sensors.

How does moisture affect polyimide?

Polyimide is hygroscopic. Condition material to your humidity spec before machining to hold critical tolerances.

Can you hold tight tolerances on polyimide tubes?

ID/OD ±0.02 mm achievable on conditioned material using precision grinding.

What standards apply to polyimide tubing?

ASTM D5487 (polyimide film), IEC 60672 (thermal classification). Material COA supplied per batch.
